Jesse Daniel Edwards

Jesse Daniel Edwards is an award-winning songwriter based in East Nashville. Apart from his work as a solo artist, he spent five years on the road with The Smart Brothers, releasing 4 recordings and performing with the likes of First Aid Kit and Jason Mraz.As a young songwriter, Jesse relocated to Nashville where he became a protege of Al Bunetta (John Prine, Oh Boy Records). Honing his art busking outside of honky tonks and writing on Music Row in the years that followed, JDE crafted his raw talent into the passionate vocals and smart lyrics that would become his signature style. Favoring a DIY approach in the vein of Elliot Smith or Conor Oberst, Jesse’s heartfelt indie folk and alt-country sound has endured with his fans through his self-produced recordings and demos, along with his engaging live performances. His music has been featured in radio, TV, and independent films and is available on Netflix, Spotify (featured artist), and Apple Music.

Getting Betterby Jesse Daniel EdwardsASCAPI had to put down the bottle to take her handI had to put out my cigarette to take her inside to listen to the bandI had to put aside my fears that I didn’t know this danceI’m getting betterat being a better manI had to lose a few numbers, a few friends, a few baggies of pillsI had to lose control completely to a complete standstillI had to lose my way so you could find me and take me by the handI’m getting betterat being a better manone day you’ll wake up and sayyou’re glad you waitedyou’re glad you stayedI’m glad I didn’t scare you awaywith my sh, sh, sh shaky handsI think I’m getting betterat being a better manI had to give up on giving up once and for allI had to give in to windows where there had always just been wallsI gave you so many good reasons to go but you gave me one more chance, and then one more chance, and then one more chance, and one more chanceI’m getting betterat being betterI’m getting betterat being a better man
